No. The problem with a more "chat" format is, people are more expectant of a reply instantly and get more chatty "hi how are you", which all eats up time.

A forum is much better with it's use of threads, is more searchable / indexable by search engines, meaning that you can usually always find what you want with a google search, if not a forum search.
