A bit late maybe with the new 280 character tweets, but I want to be on the safe side until I know 280 character tweets are no problem.

You can test write your tweets with 140 characters in mind before you create tweets for TD.

It's a bit fake... It doesn't really count links correctly; just the amount of characters the URL itself has. Usually, most URLs are longer than 23 characters (with the https://) so you should be good in most cases... If it fits, it fits - usually : )

IIRC regardless of URL, twitter counts it as 23 chars

so

and
http://bit.ly/apsidui

both are treated as 23 chars long
