When SCM runs, it uses a database folder that stores all your data. Accounts / processes / items already processed etc.

Some users wanted a way to have separate databases. So they could load up SCM with just a certain set of accounts and related information. Custom DB instance allows this.

You can also run multiples copies of SCM at the same time if running different custom db instances.

Perhaps you are in a folk band and also a gabber producer. You may not want the same accounts commenting on your gabber tracks as you do your folk songs.

So you have a custom db instance "gabber" and "folk". Then the created / added accounts to each instance, will not be accessible via the other db instance. They are completely separate entities

Hi,

Is there a tutorial explaining how to manage multiple DB instances? I would like to have mutually exclusive DBs with 20 users each, not sure how to achieve that...

Thank you!

No tutorial yet I'm afraid, but it is quite simple.

1) Load SCM as normal
2) Click FILE > CUSTOM DB
3) Enter identifiers for each custom instance you want,
1
2
3

or you can be more descriptive
rockband
housedj
electroproducer

whatever.

Then 3 new "instances" of SCM will open under those custom db names.

Then just use the programs as normally, importing your accounts , creating accounts. Then to open again, repeat steps 1-3. As long as you enter the same "names" each time, the same db opens up, reloading your data
