Posting Videos only youtube?

I wonder why I can't post videos hosted on my own server? I have tried some random YouTube Videos and they all work. When I log in to Tumblr and try to manually embed a video it also not work so it is not a problem in the software I think.

I know now, you can embed vimeo, youtube, xvideos and perhaps some others, as for self hosted I don't know. But if you cannot do it via the website, then it is a tumblr issue, so write to them
