Disable Email Validation

Post by snowleopard »

What exactly does this mean?? (From the Global settings menu)

Is that a leftover setting from when you used to be able to do the Gmail spinner trick?

Or would this somehow affect when I am creating new accounts?

My thought is that I would want my email validated so that my SC accounts are verified. Not sure if this setting affects that...?

Thanks!

when signing up on the website, your email once entered is sent to SC server to see if it has been used before. Some users reported back, that when using (typically crappy proxies) this check would fail (i.e. soundcloud returned incorrectly) and the signup failed. Although, without this check the signup would go through.

With quality proxies, the check would pass correctly

Ok. I AM using high quality proxies.

So I should just leave it ticked then?

Thanks!

yes. There is no evidence that the check is required, but always good to replicate EXACTLY what the browser does, just in case things change in the future even if there is nothing to show it is being used today
