Repeat Hours-Repeat #Times Question

Post by socialcircle »

Greetings Martin,

although I've been using twitterdub for the last what seems like 3 years
I've always manually started each action such as follow unfollow.

I've gotten to the point where I'm finally delving deeper into the software so I just wanted to check to better automate the process.

Current Settings
Repeat hours#=2
Repeat #times=12
Max repeat daily=Not Set

Is this setting the equivalent of running an action every 2 hours for 12 days?

As it's been running for over 2 days so far.

If I wanted to run the action for 7 days and then stop

Would it be
Repeat Hours#=2
Repeat #times =7
Max repeat daily=12

I'm assuming if you don't input a value in max repeat daily, that the value will be inactive and the action will only take action off of the values set?
Thank you for you hep Martin

No :)

your action will repeat every 2 hours. After it has repeated 12 times, the action will NO longer repeat.

As it's been running for over 2 days so far.
depending on how long the action runs for, it will be stopping soon

this doesn't make sense.

After 7 repeats STOP repeating
and do a max of 12 repeats a day.

The 12 repeats a day will never kick in, as the total repeats before stop value is going to stop the repeats before.

I think you are confusing the #repeats as if you had set repeat_every:24 hours.

If you don't put a value, the program will just just keep repeating throughout the day.

For example, lets consider:

repeat every hour: 1
daily repeats: 4
total repeats: 40

Day1:
action runs: 8.00
repeats
action runs: 9.00
repeats
action runs: 10.00
repeats
action runs: 11.00

We have now repeated 4 times so cannot repeat any more today, set next run for tomorrow:
day1:
action runs: 00:00
repeats:
action runs: 01:00
repeats:
action runs: 02:00
repeats:
action runs: 03:00
4 repeats today complete, wait until tomorrow.
....
Day10:
action runs: 00:00
repeats:
action runs: 01:00
repeats:
action runs: 02:00
repeats:
action runs: 03:00
40 total repeats completed, stop action repeating
