posting tweets

Post by mpak »

Hello.. A few days ago I noticed that many times twitterdub fails to post tweets and possibly all other actions. The errors I get are:
23:31:44: FAILED GET: (549416) -1

23:31:44: * FAILED to pull twitter.com
23:31:44: * FAILED : 93650368671 : FAILED to pull twitter.com

And the second one:
20:08:08: FAILED GET: (851868) -1

20:08:08: Could not deserialise to: List`1 as input is empty
20:08:08: ERROR: scrape users from ID :Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

* ERROR posting tweet: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I get one of these errors 30% of the time I try to post something. This happens with or without proxy.

Does anyone have the same problem?

It would be a nice function in Twitterdub to Retry any action that failed for whatever reason. It would be nice to setup how many times to retry action 1-5 for example and to be able to choose pause in seconds/min between those retries.

-1 / empty / <null> means no response received.

This is either your network was down, the proxy wasn't working, something on your machine blocked the request / the site server timed out and didn't respond in time (unlikely but does happen)

If using a proxy, test it:
Please confirm your proxy is working, more info on how to do that here:

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3453

If the proxy appears to be working fine, please run the action again as it could have been a network "blip".

If the issue appears to be persistent, please check your anti virus / security software as they *may* block the app from the accessing the network and make sure the applications program files folder:

c:\program files (x86)\twitterdub\

is whitelisted and / or all the .exe and .dlls in that folder.

How long does twitterdub wait for response? I have about a dozens private proxies and also use the software without proxies. The problem is everywhere. Is there a way to increase timeout? Maybe there is a program to increase timeout or some Windows setting ?

Right now I have 5 number of threads setup in processing tab. Maybe I should lower that? Maybe two simultaneous connections to one proxy fails?

Timeout is not the issue, it is set to 60 seconds.

Test the proxy on the local machine, 9/10 it is not working. Probably you need to auth the IP - contact your proxy company

This account uses NO proxy and I'm pretty sure the internet is ok. in the first one it fails instantly. in the second one.. just a few hours later it gets through the login phase but fails in the next one. Timeout is like 0 seconds.

then this is most likely:
If the issue appears to be persistent, please check your anti virus / security software as they *may* block the app from the accessing the network and make sure the applications program files folder:

c:\program files (x86)\twitterdub\
Also if on a server it is likely the firewall is more restrictive than a home machine , allow the app through the firewall in and out

Windows Update fixed the problem.
