Accounts were working then suddenly started failing

Post by TwitterNub »

Hello,

I was using the like, follow, and retweet settings perfectly for about 2-3 hours but then they started to fail randomly. I can't tell if it's because they are done for the day and now reschedule or if its because of failed authentication, when I click the individual items in the processor this is what it shows:

Each one seems to have it's own reasons, unless it's something simple and I'm just missing it. I will also send in logs now since you might ask, the log number is: 53271.

Also, stupid question but does each account need it's own API? That's how it's set up atm. Thank you!

Here's another one, all my accounts have seemed to throw this one this time. I checked the accounts, they are still alive, I just made them today haha, I'd be sad if they were already dead. I also recreated keys for all of them and re-authorized all the accounts before this second try, both of which completed with no problems.

Question 1: How do I search multiple terms? That would make my life so much easier. I've been doing separate tasks for different search terms.

In example: Instead of doing 200 follows for multiple search terms in a single action, I will do 50x4, each set of 50 a different search term. I could't figure it out, it's probably simple as shit, and I'm just missing the key. Do you list them like so? "#soundcloud, #techno, #metal"?

Secondly, sorry for the delay, here are the logs you requested. For some reason my accounts haven't been adding people either, it seems to skip past people and ignore everyone or just fail instantly while all the other functions work fine. All my accoutns are growing in everything but followings/followers haha.

Ok, so for the last 3 days I have been running all accounts on a "Global API" which seems to have worked though my API gets bogged down rather quickly on the more labor intensive tasks and I hit the request limits with 12 accounts, so I can't really scale up using only a single API, not to mention I'm sure it's a death sentence though I don't know much about API's tbh. I've never used them before.

Anyways, the global API isn't really a fix as i can't scale up so I went ahead and set it up so each account has it's own API key set. I authorized all accounts after generating keys with the "Authorize accounts" button. All of which completed successfully. I deleted the logs at this point and then followed the steps you've given me.

Log #: 43608

For some reason, the accounts all generate API's no problem and authorize without any issues, but the second I try to follow anyone it instantly fails. Even with the Global API I am having these issues, it either fails or it doesn't find anyone to follow. Only a few of my accounts have been growing in daily followers and it's only a fraction of the amount I had listed (50 compared to 150 per day). What would cause this?

I found an easy fix was to take out the # in my search term, but this wasn't really a fix the majority of the accounts just searched in limbo for hours without finding anything while the others failed due to "unable to authorize" or "no memory left".

Let me know what else I can supply you will and I'll get it to ya Asap. Thanks Martin!

PS - here is the log of the failed follow action, maybe it will give you another piece to the puzzle.

Create multiple actions via a text file - one term per line

In example: Instead of doing 200 follows for multiple search terms in a single action, I will do 50x4, each set of 50 a different search term. I could't figure it out, it's probably simple as shit, and I'm just missing the key. Do you list them like so? "#soundcloud, #techno, #metal"?
you can merge searches using the notation

[term1,term2,term3]

this will then take your max items value, ie 90 / it by your items = 30, then scrape 30 from each term, shuffle them, then process them

you will need the testing version for this
https://rootjazz.com/twitterdub/updatetesting.html

Secondly, sorry for the delay, here are the logs you requested. For some reason my accounts haven't been adding people either, it seems to skip past people and ignore everyone or just fail instantly while all the other functions work fine. All my accoutns are growing in everything but followings/followers haha.
For the new issue (skipping items) please provide evidence / logs / screen shots for this

API limits should work on a PER ACCOUNT AUTHORISED, not on a global API key basis

For some reason, the accounts all generate API's no problem and authorize without any issues, but the second I try to follow anyone it instantly fails. Even with the Global API I am having these issues, it either fails or it doesn't find anyone to follow. What you would need to do is take it step by step.

Using ONE ACCOUNT, perform a simple search - no filter, no custom search, just a simple tweet search for a VERY generic term
sunsets
funny

then try and action on 2-3 items, either follow / like / retweet

This may / may not work. If it does, then we add something else to the search, perhaps a simple filter, again run a simple action, does it work / yes / no. If yes, add another parameter

Basically this continue until we find the issue, it is probably a combination of parameters and it is a process of elimination, find out what works, then build up until it doesn't, then we have a better idea of what it "might" be

Let me check your logs now and get back to you shortly

your logs are not so helpful, they seem to imply your search was badly formed, "search for user #nsfw"

which is an invalid search as a user cannot have a name like that.

So as above.

Please perform the following:

delete existing logs
HELP > LOGS > VIEW
delete all files in the folder that opens

Perform the action:
***
double click your account, view API info
do you have API key / oauth keys?

goto follow tab
drop down search type to TWEET SEARCH - or authors of tweet search
max items: 2
search term: sunset

do not change any other default settings

run the action

***

PLEASE NOTE: Do not perform other actions at the same time. Only use one thread. Do not run any actions after this action.

Then submit logs:

Hey Martin :) Thanks for the response man.

Ok I will get on those current instructions now using only a single account and will follow the directions to the tee. I also feel I should say that I recently upgraded to windows 10 idk if this would cause any issues... though I'm pretty sure I was having the same issues on win8 as well. Sounds fun, I never mind a bit of troubleshooting :p I will get back to you shortly.

This does bring up one question for me though as I was confused. When I saw the logs that said "Failed, unable to find users with #nsfw" or any other pound keyword search. Is the "Followers of" search for a direct a twitter account name or is it for people that follow things that use a certain keyword? The reason I ask is when I remove the # it seems to at least "Complete" the action (though half the time it ignores everyone it finds with the current parameters set). It started to make me think, someone can definitely be named "porn" or "nsfw"... but they can't be named #porn, #nsfw etc. IDK lol I'm sure it's way off, because I'm pretty sure theres another setting for account name list searches anyways.

If I remember right you used a pound search term in the youtube vid so i'm pretty sure it's searching for accounts that follow certain terms instead of specific account names.

I will get back to you shortly with the information requested. Thanks Martin, have a nice day!

Step 1: view & delete all logs from folder. Completed

Step 2: open account info to see if they have api/oauth keys, it does. Completed

Step 3: go to follow tab, used drop down "Authors of tweets returned by tweet search".
Max item: 2, no filter, no unique, no share, no like, no retweet, did not change any of the default timing parameters.
Completely default settings except for the "authors of tweets etc" drop down & max item = 2. Completed.

Step 4: Using 1 thread, run this process and this process only, then send you logs and do nothing else with Twitterdub til we speak next.

Logs #: 54379

Mr. Martin seems to fix it all :P Success, such a beautiful site. Is there anywhere I can read up a bit more to operate the followers tab? Do I need to scape names in order to make it worth while? like, say you use "Sunset" for 5 days, eventually you will add everyone with the word Sunset that meets your parameters on twitter right? So do you just juggle terms or how does that work? Thanks. Awaiting my next move Sergeant :P

So it seems you tried to perform a search with a term that wasn't allow.

Searching for TWEETS with a keyword: #nsfw is fine, search for usernames / geolocations is not. So just be aware of the type of search you are performing.

As for anything not convered / any questions you have, post them up and I will get them answered.

As for how to do things - it really is up to you to decide what works best for you.

There is a new MERGE search

so you search for

[dogs,cats,animals,zoo]

then the program will perform those 4 searches - shuffle the results, then action on the merged results. So you can perform various searches in a single action.

Another way is to use the WATCH FOR TWEETS STREAM, this bypasses the twitter API limits you can set a heavy filter and find highly targeted users to action

Ok, Well I went ahead and downloaded the other version of Twitterdub as recommended above in order to be able to use multiple search terms listed as so: [pig, dog, cat, bird]. I followed the same formula as above, complete default settings, no filter and put the setting to "Authors of tweet search".

I only use one account and this is what I get now. Should I switch back to the other version of Twitterdub?
