doesn't twitter automatically make a link clickable?
Also, can I input something so that the username of the follower appears in the DM?
What do you mean? What follower? You mean the person you are sending the DM to?

If so, the control should list the available tokens you can use:

#randnum#
#my_twitter#
#my_name#
#my_username#
#mention#
#reply_name#
#reply_username#
#reply_first_name#
#acc_tags#
#reply_url#
((bitly)url-here)
((bitly-rand)url-here)
((googl)url-here)
((googl-rand)url-here)
#trend_hash#
#datetime-short#
#datetime-long#
#time#
#date-long#
#date-short#

So just to confirm, if I dm a new follower, I should use #reply_username# or should I just use #username#?

#reply_username#

#username# is / was actually the same, but it could be assumed to be YOUR username, or the account being actioned on, hence it was changed to

#reply_username#
and
#my_username#

to be more clear
