Re: Video Watermarker Error

If it was having that problem with every video that would be no problem, but it's not doing it but 1 outa maybe 10-20 videos now that I moved it to a fresh XP virtual machine. I'm starting to wonder if it's something to do with the shared folder I'm using. Pornhubdub is giving me the same error now. I have not updated virtualbox since I used both of these programs last so I don't understand why the sudden issue.

Just as a test I will move the watermarker out of a vm onto the main system and see how it does. EDIT: scratch that not messing with my main system and the watermarker is asking for framework 4.0. System runs too well and is way too stable to go screwing with it.

you are using a shared folder. Can you explain what you mean. Shared with what?

Are you downloading the videos to a folder then uploading? Are you using meta files? If not, then the watermarker could be detecting the not completed downloads. If you use meta files, the meta files are saved only after download completion

Virtualbox allows access to the host or main system hard drive by way of "shared folders". They show up as network shared folder. I then map them to a drive letter normally.

The downloads are done in a folder named Videos. Once they are done downloading twice a day they are moved to another folder named Watermark. That is where the watermarker looks for new videos to watermark. Once it's done it moved them to a folder named Watermarked. Again that's where Pornhubdub finds them. So no 2 programs are attempting to read the contents of the same folder, just add files to it.

This exact same setup worked when I was attempting to use these programs before and didn't cause problems, other software bugs did.

FYI as of right now the watermarker seems to be working as it should. The problem may of been with the extremely long file names that I now shorten or something to do with the old install. It is now in a new fresh XP install.

I must admit I don't know too much about how VM handle shared folders, whether there is something that *could* lock a file I have no idea.

But as you say it used to work then I think we can assume it is fine.

However, you said you were using windows XP and long directory paths, that could be the issue. as I know windows XP doesn't like long paths, that could have been causing the error which was manifesting itself as another error - that isn't unheard of (an error caused by X to be logged as caused by Y)

If it is working now, then that is good, if the issue comes back do let me know and we can start to work through it
