Not entirely sure. But when there is a database issue, file cannot be read, the offending file is saved and a new record created. If you do not notice the warnings, and the cause persists, you could end with constantly backing up your failed files.

Usually the program can notice this, notify you and refuse to work until it is fixed. In some instances, it just carries on backing up this files, until you could have quite a few (your issue).

Hmm. seems to 'complete' now without actually unfollowing anyone. must have broken again, i'll check the .bin files too, see if i'm having duplicates

clear logs: HELP > LOGS > DELETE
run the action
submit logs

HELP > LOGS > SUBMIT

then send your logs ID - the first 4 numbers is sufficient (displayed after successful uploading of logs)
