Retrieve an Action After Crash

Post by neoRauch » Sat Jul 14, 2018 4:16 am

Hi - wanted to ask if it was possible to retrieve an action if you haven't exported it?

I had an image posting action that was working for a few weeks but instadub crashed before I could export it. Spent a long time setting up that action so wondering if it was at all possible to retrieve that action from a log/database/somewhere? Thanks!

The action should reload into the processor on next reload. Does it? It's status might be FINISHED, but you can right click > REDO

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately the action doesn't reload in the processor when I relaunch Instadub.

ok, don't fear. It should still be in the database, just it isn't loading.

The easiest way to rectify this will be:

Make sure you are up to date
https://rootjazz.com/instadub/updatetesting.html

open the app,
backup the database
TOOLS >CREATE DB BACKUP

find the backup file
HELP > APP DATA >

it will be something like
backup_database_20180715.zip

email me the file if less than 8mb, otherwise upload somewhere and send me the link

Code: Select all

this happens a lot with me.

just play around with the account's settings a little. It randomly pops back up.

No, it never "randomly" pops back up. The reason causing it to not load was fixed. In order to do this, I need the files / database to find out why.

Thanks very much for the support Martin!

I may be doing something wrong but after doing Tools > Create database backup, the app was unresponsive for a few minutes and then this error pop-up appeared:

Code: Select all

Microsoft .NET Framework

Unhandled exeption has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

The number of entries is 65535 or greater. Consider setting the UseZip64WhenSaving property on the Zipfile instance.
I clicked "Continue" and checked Help > App data but couldn't seem to find any .zip or back up file.

Restarted Instadub a few times and then restarted my computer and the error always pops up. Also tried to google how to set the UseZip64WhenSaving property thinking it might be a Windows preference but seems to be more a property that's set via code.

Let me know if there's anything else I can try? Thank you!

not sure why that is, but you can do it manually

goto
%appdata%\rootjazz\instadub\

you should see the database folder. How big is it? right click > properties?

But zip it up:
right click > send to > compressed (zip)

then upload the file somewhere and email me the link

Code: Select all

as per my email, you have 125k follow actions.

This is too many. As to your follow actions you lost, I just cannot go through so many. It is going to take infinitely longer than you just creating them again.

I would recommend you go to

%appdata%\rootjazz\instadub\database\dbaction\

find the folder:
searchfollow

and rename it to: searchfollow_bu

Now when you start the program, it should load quickly although no follow actions will load in.

IF you really want, you can try and load the in 100-200 at a time by:
close app
goto searchfollow_bu folder, cut 200 files and paste them them searchfollow
Now load the app, those 200 actions should load in - are they the ones you want? If not, delete them from the processor and load in another 200. Carry on like this through all 125k until you find the ones you want
