It should be there. Can you confirm what program you are using, as this post is the default answer for all questions regarding custom instances.chimpchomp01 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 2:24 am Hi Martin,
Where exactly should I find the create custom DB option? I can not see it in the file menu,
No idea what google is referring to, but that is not related to our software, no SQL requiredwhen I search in Google it says I need to make it using SQL.
To open a specific instance within the app select: (well you should be able to)
FILE > NEW DB INSTANCE > instance_name
instance_name is the name of the instance / database. To reopen this instance, use the same instance_name
Additionally: Find the exe in the program files folder:
c:\program files (x86)\APP_NAME\
right click the exe
select CREATE SHORTCUT (this will probably put it on your desktop
Find the short cut and right click > PROPERTIES
In the target box you will see
c:\program files (x86)\APP_NAME\APP_NAME.exe
Change this to:
c:\program files (x86)\APP_NAME\APP_NAME.exe instance_name
WARNING instance_name must be one word
Click ok to save
Now when you double click this shortcut, the program will open in a new instance with a database specified by instance_name. This is the same instance that would load if you opened a new instance from within the app via:
FILE > NEW DB INSTANCE > instance_name
* where APP_NAME is the name of the app
