Change description/biographie only

I'm sorry to bother you again, Martin.


I just want to change the description/biographie.
So in the account tab I only write the text I want to add and I'd like to insert a link also.
The programm returns with an error :

The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

and changed my permalink into the account name

let me take a look. Sounds like SC updated something (or this was missed in the last round of updates)

can you change the description for this account with that exact description via the website?

program working fine to update description here. So need to know if it is

a) the account
b) the description
c) account+description

I've tried this three times with three accs

just a few words + bit.ly/link direct in the description.
first the link was not showing correct in the profile & all three accounts get banned instantly.
I can do this maually on the soundcloud page and everything is fine, with scm this don't work.

I'll try this again and send you the logs in a few hours.

try a normal description with no link

just tried multiple accounts, all fine.

Are you sure the accounts aren't actually ALREADY banned? Just it becomes apparent after posting description?

If still not making sense after your tests, export the account(s) and email them in and I can test here

i checked them before I did that. A minute later after i changed the description including "bitly" they were gone

a normal description working fine
a description with bit.ly/link results in getting banned.

no longer necessary. bit.ly is the problem for some reason.
let me try a few things tomorrow. I'll keep you updated if interested Martin.
But it is no software issue.

well if you can do it fine from the browser, that isn't a given yet.

As to link showing wrongly, your description in logs was

... bit.ly/something

that is not a link, it should have the http:// or https:// part, which might explain why it showed wrong.

But I tested with:
bit.ly/something and it posted fine from app and no account ban (well I haven't checked today so I hope not). But was an actual account I have had for years.

*MAYBE* creating a brand new account and instantly pushing a bit.ly link is the issue. This is spam behaviour - not saying you are spamming, but spammers will sign up account and straight away without doing anything push a link that has been used on other accounts. That could be the issue.

IT could be SC are following the link and getting the end URL which is blacklisted, or the bitly/something link is blacklisted.

if you generate a bit.ly to your page, if you make the URL unique (maybe add a variable ?a=12983721983 it generates a unique bitly - might help. But not if SC are following the URL (which with bitly is easy to do as it is a 301 / 302 redirect.
